Teachers at Pine Street School are putting more than $25,000 to work for this school year through the grant funding program sponsored by the Pine Street School Foundation. With the goal of enhancing the overall educational experience at Pine Street School, the Foundation has awarded $278,000 in grants since its inception in 2009.

“As our ten year anniversary comes to a close, it is incredible to reflect on the numerous grants funded by the Foundation over the last decade,” said Cecilia Hanna, board chair of the Pine Street School Foundation for 2019-2020. “Teachers continue to bring us innovative ideas that go beyond what traditional funds can support, and our community responds enthusiastically with gifts that bring their ideas to life.”

This year’s grants support a hot air balloon demonstration and hands-on weather lesson for all fourth grade students, a one-day STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) experience for fifth graders to build functioning hovercrafts, virtual reality goggle kits available to the entire school , new free play foam building blocks for first grade classrooms to help develop better motor and spatial skills, math games, educational software program subscriptions, an educational series on making pottery, classroom library of books to help instill a positive mindset, and support of the school’s annual musical production, among other projects.

“We are thankful to all who come together to help enrich the academic experience at Pine Street School,” said Hanna.

Funded projects include:

“Projects like these are not only beneficial to the students, but also represent the collaboration between the school and the Foundation,” said Pine Street principal Dennis Regnier. “We appreciate parents, grandparents, and other friends who contribute in such wonderful ways so that the Pine Street School Foundation may continue to fund a variety of creative and innovative experiences for our students.”

The Pine Street School Foundation raises funds each spring to award for projects that will be implemented the following school year, creating an immediate and direct impact with its resources. The grant application process is open to Pine Street School faculty and staff, and includes a proposal submission and an interview with the Foundation’s grants committee.

Support from friends and family of Pine Street students, and from those in the community beyond, enables the Foundation’s impact. Please join our effort by making your gift today. Your gift enhances an already exceptional educational experience.
